Georg Baselitz, nascido em 1938, é um dos mais famosos pintores alemães contemporâneos. Ele deixou uma marca na pintura moderna a partir de 1960. Uma marca para a qual o artista é famoso em todo o mundo suas pinturas de ponta-cabeça. Ao girar o motivo, Georg Baselitz reduz a sua monumentalidade, abstrai-o e liberta-lo de seu conteúdo convencionalmente concebido.

Georg Baselitz, born in 1938, is one of the most famous contemporary German painters. He has left an imprint on modern painting as of 1960. A trademark for which the artist is famous around the world is his standing his paintings on their heads. By rotating the motif, Georg Baselitz reduces its monumentality, abstracts it and liberates it from its conventionally conceived content.

As coleções do Albertina contem cerca de 120 pinturas, aquarelas, gráficos impressos e desenhos de Baselitz, dos quais uma seção transversal é agora apresentada por ocasião do 75 º aniversário do artista. Um dos focos da exposição é fornecido pelas obras de seu grupo Remix de 2005/06: obras em que Baselitz reinterpreta e re-enquadra suas obras anteriores.

The collections of the Albertina contain some 120 paintings, watercolours, print graphics and drawings by Baselitz, of which a cross-section is now being presented on the occasion of the artist's 75th birthday. One focus of the show is provided by works from his Remix group from 2005/06: works in which Baselitz reinterprets and restages his earlier works.
